Why read books?

Have you ever felt like your high school required reading was well, too tedious? The book too thick and dense? Aside from taking a peak in those Shakespeare Sparknotes, have you ever really read a book from start to finish?

Listen. Books are probably the only thing that matter anyway. If TV was ever enough, we would all die of embarassment and low self-esteem. The TV industry is way too superficial anyway.

With everything else that´s available on our hands: ads, blogs, videos, music, movies, website content, pictures, art, inspirational quotes, there may be nothing else that lasts long enough or is really packed with that much content as a book. I think buying books results in anyone getting so much more for their money than simply spending it on an expensive tube of makeup or jewelry. I think life really isn´t complete without books.

The benefits of reading (according to me):

  1. You get to exercise your brain.
  2. You get to practice concentration and relaxation.
  3. You get to travel without leaving your seat.
  4. You get the deepest comfort for life´s most complicated problems.
  5. It may not be easy to read, but you get to occupy your time actively, with say, solving a mystery novel.
  6. You have new ways of seeing the world (books open your mind).
  7. You get to spend your time on earth wisely; using it to learn and broaden your wisdom.
Reading is probably the greatest pastime.  They say money makes the world go round; I say reading does. Also, reading is the most life-affirming activity that the average human can do.

Read for fun. Read for your life.
